Bourgault Industries operates a 2,500-acre research farm in its hometown of St. Brieux, Sask., and hosts seeding demonstrations throughout the summer. The addition of a 40-acre Discovery Farm Langham plot will add to Bourgault’s field-testing locations to allow more farmers to see new equipment in the field under real-world conditions.
During Ag in Motion 2024, Bourgault Industries will host seeding demonstrations twice daily to give farmers a chance to see equipment operating up close.
Bourgault will be showing these units during Ag in Motion:
Bourgault Agronomy demonstration plots will also be on display showing differences in fertilizer placement and seeding rates.
With the demonstration plot at Discovery Farm and the added opportunity to see the equipment in action at Ag in Motion, farmers get a unique experience to review Bourgault Industries seeding equipment.
The Ag In Motion Discovery Farm provided an excellent opportunity and location to showcase the latest in Bourgault seeding technology during the SEEding Is Believing event. Traditionally this event was held in St. Brieux Saskatchewan but was moved to the Discovery Farm site in 2023 to be held in conjunction with Ag In Motion.
Attendees of the Ag In Motion show were able to gather at the Bourgault booth and jump on a people mover where they were driven to the Discovery Farm land where the demos were occurring. There was no pre-registration required and it was a first come first serve event. Two sessions were conducted in each of the 3 days, one at 11:30am and one at 1:00PM, for a total of 6 demonstrations.
There was 30 acres of stubble used to demonstrate two different Bourgault Seeding systems.

The attendees first met at the Bourgault Booth where they were transported out to the field. A brief description was given on each of the two units that were being demoed.
The drills were then pulled for 1000’ in the field with the people movers travelling alongside the machines. The attendees could watch how the different openers and fertilizer applicators moved through the soil.
At the end of the demonstration, all attendees were invited to exit the people movers and were given seed diggers to personally dig around in the soil to see the fertilizer and seed placement. Being able to see the machines work in the field and then inspect the job they do provided invaluable information and experience when farmers are purchasing their next seeder.
There were many Bourgault employees there to answer questions and to show the seed and fertilizer placements, as well as to discuss one on one any other items attendees may have had.
The attendees climbed back on the people movers and were brought back to the Bourgault booth at the Ag In Motion site. The total demonstration took 1 hour and the attendees left with an up close and personal experience with all questions answered, as well as a seed digger and a hat!
Having the SEEding Is Believing event in conjunction with Ag In Motion at the Discovery Farm provided for a large diversity of producers coming from across Canada, the United States, and some from overseas. There were many great questions and discussions had throughout the entire 3 days of the event. Some attendees were familiar with Bourgault equipment prior to the event and had their specific questions answered, while others were new to Bourgault equipment and left with a new appreciation of its capabilities. We look forward to seeing you in the field next year!
