Northern Nutrients Ltd. has partnered with the University of Saskatchewan and GroWest Ag Ventures to complete their Nitrogen Gas Flux Trials at Discovery Farm Langham. This 2023 project aims to measure the nitrogen soil gas flux of Northern Nutrients’ proprietary fertilizer, Triple Kick, as well as develop a comprehensive understanding of Triple Kick’s performance and effectiveness.
Throughout this project, the company seeks to find out the efficiency of Triple Kick in reducing nitrogen losses through ammonia volatilization, leaching and other greenhouse gases. The project focuses on proving that the reduction in loss of nitrogen gases or ammonia through volatilization or leaching can benefit the crops. The reduction in nitrogen loss can be accomplished by using fertilizers that have stabilizers, such as Triple Kick, in the quest for efficient nutrient management and sustainable farming practices that minimize environmental impact.
Field trials are important as they allow the performance of Triple Kick to be tested under real-world conditions. As a result, conducting this research at Discovery Farm Langham allows Northern Nutrients to share findings with farmers, and host live demonstrations of research projects and trials to interested farmers and potential customers.
