Pillar Lasers – Pillar Mark III Opener Placement Accuracy

Pillar Lasers Mark III Opener Placement Accuracy Project demonstrates the precise seed and fertilizer placement of Mark III Openers in high residue conditions. Accuracy is maintained at speeds upwards of 6 mph.

In this project, cereal crop is seeded into the 5-acre plot. A second crop will be seeded directly into standing crop during Ag in Motion (July 16-18) to demonstrate the ability to precisely place seed and fertilizer in high residue conditions without hairpinning and/or plugging.

This project demonstrates how growers can achieve precise seed and fertilizer placement in high residue conditions (including that of stripper headers). This reduces the need for additional passes, increase moisture capture and reduce erosion. It also shows that residue cover does not require tillage prior to seeding and that seeding speed can be maintained or even increased while maintaining excellent placement.
