Discovery Farm Langham releases 2022 growing season findings in Field Report
LANGHAM, SASK. – In the quest to find practical solutions to everyday challenges for Western Canadian farmers, Discovery Farm Langham has collected data and insights from 12 agriculture demonstration research projects that took place in the field in 2022. Findings are now available in the Discovery Farm Langham 2022 Field Report.
In partnership with industry, the report reflects on demonstration research and trials for new products that introduce advanced technology to support new levels of production efficiency and sustainable farming practices. Partners that led demonstration research projects at the site in 2022 include EcoTea, FCL, Lucent BioSciences, Norstar, Nutrien Ag Solutions, Väderstad, and Yara. Nineteen others joined in partnership on demonstration research projects.
“This report is a key way we share practical insights and connect farmers to information that can impact their operation in significant ways,” says Carla Vipond, executive vice-president, Discovery Farm. “As our partners continue to search for innovative solutions for Canadian farmers, we are proud to help share those findings.”
In 2022, Shannon Winny, owner of GroWest Ag Ventures Ltd., joined Discovery Farm Langham to provide project management services and offer agronomic advice to demonstration research partners.
“It’s great to see so much exploration being done to advance agriculture in Saskatchewan and across Western Canada,” says Winny. “In the Langham Field Report, we discuss the challenges we faced including drought, hail, kochia, dandelion, grasshopper, flea beetle concerns and saline areas, but also show where the partners found success. We are working within real farming conditions, so this research can help provide answers to the situations that many farmers face on a regular basis.”
Events and knowledge transfer activities that took place at Discovery Farm Langham in 2022, including Discovery Farm’s flagship event Ag in Motion, are also highlighted in the 2022 Field Report.
