LANGHAM, SASK. JANUARY 5, 2021 – After a growing season filled with both challenges and successes, Discovery Farm Langham has released its 2021 Field Report reflecting on research findings and educational activities that took place at the farm.
“In this report, we conducted an in-depth analysis of the data obtained throughout the year which surfaced many new observations,” said Blake Weiseth, applied research lead at Discovery Farm Langham and agricultural research chair at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. “Although it was a challenging growing season across the Canadian prairies, our research showed us how our agronomic practices can be adapted to achieve better outcomes during these challenges.”
The 2021 Field Report analyzes three Discovery Farm-led projects taking place on-site. The following projects were completed in collaboration with a variety of industry partners: the
Water Management Project, the Salinity Project, and the Field of Excellence Project, which is part of the Pan-Canadian Smart Farm Network. Additionally, projects led by industry partners are also listed as a way of highlighting the numerous collaborations that took place in pursuit of discovering practical solutions for Canadian farmers.
“The launch of the 2021 Field Report is an exciting time for Discovery Farm as we reflect back on the learnings and events that took place at the farm this year,” said Kaitlyn Kitzan, business development and operations specialist at Discovery Farm. “Not only are we able to discuss new research findings, but we are also celebrating the many networking and educational activities that transpired. We have seen first-hand how farmers were able to gain new insights for their farming operations, and we couldn’t have done it without our partners.”
