Managing Salinity on your Farm
March 30, 2021

Join us on March 30th at 10 a.m. CST to hear why implementing new management practices on-farm can be risky. Challenges such as seeding perennial forages on saline soil can lead to poor establishment in the first year due to weed competition. Discovery Farm Langham has chosen to continue with this long-term strategy of seeding perennial forages in the midst of intense weed pressure.

Special guest Dr. Bart Lardner, principal investigator at the Livestock and Forage Centre of Excellence, is leading the research project “Evaluation of alfalfa and grass species in binary and triple mixtures on performance under soil salinity conditions”. He will share his expertise on forage production in soil saline conditions.

The Discovery Farm Salinity Project is conducted in partnership with Nutrien Ag Solutions and Ducks Unlimited Canada. Jeremy Brown with Ducks Unlimited Canada will be sharing why Ducks Unlimited Canada is involved in this project.
