PERMANENT HOME FOR CANADA’S OUTDOOR FARM SHOW FINALIZED AT DISCOVERY FARM WOODSTOCK

WOODSTOCK, ONT. – Earlier today, Ernie Hardeman, MPP for Oxford, on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, announced that the land acquisition of Discovery Farm Woodstock by Glacier FarmMedia has been finalized. This gives Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show a permanent home at the site and paves the way for continued growth and development.

After announcing in Sept. 2020 the intention to develop Discovery Farm Woodstock as an applied research facility to strengthen Ontario’s agriculture sector as well as permanently host Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, the 100-acre land purchase became final on Nov. 1, 2021.

“Ensuring that farmers will continue to have a place to learn about cutting-edge research and innovative solutions at the new Discovery Farm Woodstock is key to maintaining knowledge-transfer at the grassroots level,” said Hardeman. “The sale of this property reinforces Ontario’s commitment to accelerating our agriculture sector through innovation, research and the adoption of new practices and technologies.”

“This is a ground-breaking moment for Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show as we now have a permanent home at this hub of learning and demonstration that is Discovery Farm Woodstock,” said Doug Wagner, president of Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show. “We’re thankful to Ernie Hardeman for his efforts to make this a reality during his time as Minister of Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, as well as to Minister Lisa Thompson for her continued support.”

Discovery Farm Woodstock will focus on demonstration and knowledge transfer for farmers while bringing together key players from industry and science to find practical solutions to the key questions facing farmers today.
