Industry partners conduct small- and large-plot demonstration research at Discovery Farm Woodstock to test practical applications, farming methods, technologies and products in a real-world setting.
Farmers attending Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show from September 10-12, 2024 get an insider’s look at leading-edge research by taking part in the twice-daily Discovery Farm “Off the Beaten Path” Demonstration Research Tour presented by BMO.
Tours take place twice a day at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. from September 10-12, 2024 at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show. Meet at the farm show Discovery Farm Booth #S-618 to catch the guided tour on a people mover. Spaces are limited so arrive a bit early.
During the tour, which takes about 45 minutes, visitors hear about these Discovery Farm research projects:
Field of Excellence, powered by AgExpert is a large-scale collaborative research project that attracts a variety of industry partners in a single cohesive project around narrowing the yield gap and improving yields. This year, the project will also investigate the impact of following proper agronomic recommendations using lab services (grower standard practice vs. laboratory recommendations). The effects of soil health on crop quality will also be examined. Partners: A&L Canada Laboratories Inc., AgExpert, Kubota Canada, Sylvite and Maizex.
The EcoTea Soil Health Discovery Project includes research into how full spectrum biology can improve soil health and on-farm profitability.
LEMKEN is demonstrating the benefits of banding dry fertilizer when planting corn or soybeans with the Equalizer CII Planter.
The Smart Energy Company partners with Discovery Farm Woodstock to install a micro solar farm and utility shed for electrical and battery devices. The initiative promotes renewable energy technology and sustainable farming practices.
Seaborn Organics Squid Fertilizer project shows the benefits of sustainably sourced squid juice in providing macro/micro nutrients, amino acids, microbes and chitin for organic and traditional farming.
Maizex Seeds Research Project to learn about the newest varieties in the Maizex forage plot.
